From Wolfgang Gartner’s Kindergarten Records we get Conro and his debut release Axiom. The British Columbia native drops a track that almost gets written off as just another electro house tune, but twists things up with some well-placed vocal samples and a dubbed-out drum beat. The EP also includes the basstastic “Feel You Right There”. Get it here on Beatport.
Oliver is the newly formed duo of producers U-Tern (real name Vaughn Oliver) and Oligee (real name Oliver Goldstein). After making an appearance on A-Trak’s new Tuna Melt EP, they’ve taken on remix duties for Black Van’s “Inside”, a funky disco edit with a beautifully done intro. The track is available here on Beatport. Oliver will be dropping their first EP on Fool’s Gold Records come January. You can peep a sample of their original track below as well, the electro-funk headbanger “MYB”.
Check out this video for “Love & War” from Wolfgang Gartner, a single that very quickly became one of my favorite electro-house songs to come out this year. It was filmed in the midst of his Love & War tour on 10/27/12 at The Warfield in San Francisco. Chances are if you were up front at that show, you’ll find your face somewhere in the clip.
GRiZ, fresh off his Grizmatik collaboration release, has teamed up with the funk-jazz electro duo Big Gigantic to drop “Power”. The former, real name Grant Kwiecinski, is a fellow Boulder homie and saxophone indulgent which most likely lead to his connection with BG’s Dominic Lalli. As a result, the song employs plenty of sax and ends up as a perfect combination of organ synths and grinding bass. Even better, the track is released as a free download and is available below.
When Showtek & Bassjackers announced a few weeks ago their intention of releasing a song together, I instantly assumed the final product’s main purpose would be to blow out the speaker(s) wherever it was played. I was right. “Hey!”, although creatively challenged title-wise, is an absolute massive festival EDM anthem. Not sure I can die happy until I hear this full blast alongside an audience 100,000 people strong. Radio edit was posted today and official release comes December 31st, just in time for the new year.
R3hab has been a busy guy. He rocked the crowd at EDC Orlando last month with the festival’s official anthem “A Night In”. He then teamed up with ZROQ to drop the catchy house remix for Michael Woods’ “We’ve Only Just Begun”, all while doing shows on the Asian continent. Now he’s yet again joined forces with ZROQ to create “Skydrop”, a terrific combination of R3hab’s synth progressions and his counterpart’s big room style. This single will be available December 17th on Tiesto’s label Musical Freedom thru Beatport. R3hab will be back in the U.S. starting December 12th, playing shows on the West Coast, Chicago, and Foxwoods before embarking for Europe.
A-Trak dropped his Tuna Melt EP today on Fool’s Gold and it’s definitely worth the buy, at approximately the cost – warning, pun incoming – of a tuna melt. The highlight is definitely the title track with Tommy Trash, a wonderful collaboration of their two styles. The bassline that drops after the buildup on “Disco Nap” is certainly enjoyable as well. Listen below and grab the EP on iTunes now.
